Hi! I come from Argentina and I'm planning on moving to Salvador de Bahia for the summer, because of the cultural influences that make the city. I find it interesting because of the musical heritage it has, since I'm currently studying latinoamerican popular music.

Read all you can on the area, look at the US State Department Warnings or World Wide Warnings on Brazil and Particular Salvador, you should be fine as long as you take Caution and stay away from areas of known problems, Salvador is a Port City so lots of violence with the cartels drugs, just stay away from bad areas and you should be fine. I live in the North of Bahia and my town is quant ,calm and tranquil as they say, anyone can be a victim at any time in Brazil or the USA. just watch out for yourself, always let someone know where you are going and with who. use credit cards and debit cards , see if there are music forums and schools of music, contact and inform them of your intentions and I am sure they will help you with information.
