Bank recommendations for opening an account in Colombia?

stealtannest3t

What banks do you recommend in Colombia?  After 3+ years here I decided to take the plunge and open an account but have run into a few roadblocks.  I have just used ATM's and stood in line in the past to pay bills that are only a few hundred USD a month but am tired of this.

Got turned down at Fallabella (your not in the system), Itaú (you need to have filed a declaración de renta), Bancolombia (need a RUT).  The line at Davivienda was insane!  Have a Cedula de Extranjaria and pensionado visa.

Advice dear fellow expats?

BanColombia is no 1 by far.

Davavienda  okay to deposit money and take it out immediately.

Last time I checked the App did nor online transfers did not work for people with CEs  only citizens  but   that admittedly   was quite a while ago.

Also you have to make sure your deposits and transfers in dont go over 65.89 million ( last year) or you get a form letter from DIAN you can likely ignore  in most cases.nunber is $69 .718 million in 2026

I've been with Bancolombia for a dozen years with multiple account (i.e credit cards, LOC, R.E. mortgage, debit cards, Nequi, etc.) and would do it all over again.

Just saw this DAVI ad while walking in the Medellin metro this past weekend.
