Thanks.  I do appreciate the comment however after reading SO MANY of your posts I will have to ask for a response from anyone else living in Ecuador.  You have already warned specifically not to deal with lawyers or come to think of it.... not to deal with any one in Ecuador for that matter.  After living in Mexico for two years I have found your complaints about Ecuador to be rather normal of life in a Latin American Country and can't see why you are still there frankly.  I think I can speak for many people here by saying that it is entirely possible you do not even live in another country or have had a terrible experience that you could not really handle there and continue attempts to disgrace the people and country.  You could be quite genuine and if this is the case I do appreciate it. 

After reading what other Americans wrote about living in Mexico I think one would never want to visit such a place.  We did and because we were able to ignore such perspectives.  Something many people really need to understand is that your world is comprised up entirely of what you think it is, if you see nothing but hardships and bad people or if you see good people and an excellent life, either way YOU ARE RIGHT. 

I see many people trying to discover new places other than the EUA and good for them.  I don't want them to get the feeling that other places like Ecuador are terrible based on the writings of someone who may or may not even be there, or maybe has bigger issues than the common man. 

When I left the United States (never to return) I had one thought on my mind I would rather be poor in Mexico than poor in the United States ( such an unforgiving country ).  So do what you fear, put your back against the wall and just get out.

Check out Garbriella Espinosa in Quito.  Everyone loves her and if you have an income of about $1000. per month as a pension/SS then you will qualify for a retirement visa. Well said Demarcant. I'm an Ecuadorian that found many of those comments offensive. Too bad, as there are many positive aspects of life in Ecuador. If you look only on the surface you may not find them. I've been reading other blogs and have found inteligent and objective individuals writing about Ecuador. One of them is called "Living in Loja" take a look at it, and there are several others that are very good. I've not protested any of their observations as they are done with fairness and respect for the people and country. It's a reflection of the human spirit.
