My expat journey

Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Kampala, Central Region, Uganda

Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh
It was as a family that we went to Bangladesh, it was our first expatriation. My husband went there to work. My daughter was educated at the French school and I was lucky enough to get part-time work as a librarian at the school. I say luck because there aren't many things to do in Dhaka. Apart from being part of a club (mainly frequented by expatriates), playing sports, eating and drinking. It's nice for a month or two, but for several years it becomes difficult.
Another of my occupations, knitting which I shared with other expat women. A nice moment where we exchange the rare good addresses of restaurants, shops, and where we extend invitations to each other.
In addition to my work at school I continue to take care of my apartment, drive my car, go shopping where the Bangladeshis go. I loved driving among the rickshaws, the hellish traffic, the honking horns of Dhaka and seeing the surprised and amused looks of the Bangladeshis. It's not every day you see a white woman driving and doing pretty well?
I tried to hire an aya (housekeeper/cook/nanny) and a driver but I quickly realized that it wasn't my thing.
Despite a somewhat difficult first expatriation today, I can't wait to leave for new horizons.
Discovering a new culture and having met some very nice Bangladeshi people.
The climate (very hot and very humid), walking snorkeling in the streets because of the nauseating odors.
