I spent most of my life in Pennsylvania and Virginia. I have worked as a teacher, college administrator, and professional musician. Seven years ago, just to do something crazy, I moved to San Francisco. I fell in love with Italy unexpectedly when I went there in 1990 on an organ tour. It was one of several countries we visited, but the one in which I felt I had the least interest. Surprise! I just returned from my fourth visit to Rome, and continue to be hopelessly in love with the city. I visited last year and, returning home, decided to attempt to learn to speak some Italian. I have been studying with a private teacher for the past year and absolutely love it. Latin in junior high was a great help! Next year I plan to retire, and, if I can work out the finances, would like an extended stay in Roma to be my next "something crazy."
