I came to Indonesia for the first time in 1961, I had just passed my baccalaureate. I first went to Singapore then to Malaysia finally after hearing about Bali I went first to Jakarta, toured Java then I landed in Bali bali in 1961 was not yet invaded by tourists like today, it was a quiet island with only a few australians coming to surf and a few artists from all over ubud the roads were still dirt, there were very few hotels and I lived with locals I fell in love with the island and when I returned to France I looked for what kind of studies I could do to work there, I became an ethnologist, an anthropologist and I worked there all my life until 5 years ago when I began to retire in 1988 I left Bali, which had become too touristy for my tastes, and stopped in Lombok, the closest island to the east. My parents died 3 years ago and I decided to settle permanently in Indonesia, I am now looking for a second-hand catamaran to end my life at sea, By the way if you know of one that is for sale let me know
