My expat journey

Noum茅a, New Caledonia

Since 1983

Noum茅a, New Caledonia

I have lived with my husband since 1983 in the suburbs of Noum茅a in a beautiful house facing the sea. I would like to go live elsewhere, I am starting to go in circles I would like to return to France to live in the countryside
I worked at the G Bourret hospital during the time of the military doctors, very well, afterwards with the civilian doctors I found it less good in general. As a freelancer, the work is different, you go into people's homes, you see how they live; hard hard sometimes.
The beauty of the island and the kindness of Oceanians of all ethnicities. the Melanesians and Oceanians are generous, easy-going, the metros could take inspiration from them;
The atmosphere has changed a lot in recent years, people are more superficial, it's hard to find good friends, money has too much importance in human relationships. I would like to find a little innocence and sincerity in people.

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

I would have liked to spend my retirement there but the real estate is overpriced
for almost 10 years I accompanied patients for medical evacuations; I loved doing that, I took things very seriously, I learned many things from the patients and doctors I worked with.
very beautiful city, very friendly people in general.
everything is based on shopping, again and again. prices have increased so much across the board since the Olympics; the real estate is much too expensive, we can no longer spend our retirement there, when we go there a week is enough, the people, the noise, hard for us who live in a quiet place like Mt Dore Sud

Marseille, France

Jan 1955 - Jan 1976

Marseille, France

I lived in Marseille until the age of 21. I studied at the Nord Hospital and after my DE I went to practice in Holland for 3 years.
My job taught me a lot about listening to people, I developed a sort of 6th sense, an instinct which helped me deal with many different people but I also gave a lot of myself and I suffered a burn-out which forced me to take a little more distance from the suffering of others. I had to learn to protect myself to continue helping others.
