I have been in Portugal for 5 years, the difference in standard of living has been obvious and not in a good way! I find the health system very inferior and the doctors not always very competent. I did not come by personal choice but to follow my husband who always wanted to return to the country to retire. Good advice: only come if you are young and have illusions, because for me Portugal is a wonderful country for vacations but not for living.
