My expat journey

Dresden, Saxony, Germany
Commercial (wines)
The banks of the Elbe, the public transport network, the fairs and events that punctuate the year, the nice little restaurants.
Lack of diversity in clothing, decoration and lifestyle stores.
Roads not always well maintained.
Lack of delicatessens.
Lack of artisanal bakeries (at least in my area).

Pitlochry, Scotland, Scotland
Tour guide in a distillery
Being a little cut off from the world, the Saturday evening ritual at the pub with colleagues, the memorable evenings by the peat fire drinking beer and whiskey (not clich茅 at all), the wide open spaces.
Rather linked to the fact that we had neither internet nor car and that we had to walk 45 minutes to get to town (30 cutting through the forest).

Vancouver, Canada
Logistics assistant at a fine wine importer. I learned lots of things that still help me today, including how to taste wine...
The most multicultural city I have ever lived in!
The cost of living (astronomical), food products sold in supermarkets.

Stirling, Scotland
Erasmus life: university, friends, tourism. The challenge: understanding the Scottish accent and managing to make sentences more and more understandable as the weeks go by.
All the "first times" as an expat, campus life, the group of friends which included a dozen nationalities, the beauty of the landscapes.
The difficulty in obtaining fresh products (real fruits and vegetables, that is).

Passau, Germany
Re-Erasmus: university, friends, tourism. Perfect your German first and foremost!
The generous cuisine, the eco-friendly mentality, the level of the courses and lots of other things.
