My expat journey

France

Louisiana, USA
French teacher in American public elementary schools
I like the United States in general. I was charmed by their dynamism, their philosophy of life based on freedom. We feel a great freedom there, made easier by the wide open spaces.
I loved living there, I really did.
I don't really like aspects like when you can see the faces of criminals on TV or on signs in the city, like "wanted" from the time of westerns!
Or their death penalty policy.
And the fact that it is allowed to have a weapon on oneself.
Apart from that, bad food too!
But hey, a very good homemade cheeseburger, not the fast food one, is enjoyed as it should be!

Xalapa, Mexico
Teacher at the Alliance Fran莽aise in bilingual kindergarten and French classes for adults.
Professor of history at the University.
Very beautiful country, Mexico! Beautiful landscapes, architecture and monuments from the Spanish colonial era. Very good Mexican cuisine. Mexicans are warm and welcoming people. Pleasant climate, but where I was, quite a bit of humidity.
It remains a less developed country than France, or Europe in general.
Mentalities regarding women still remain macho, macho.
There is a lot to be done regarding corruption, the thefts of which I was a victim in a taxi in Mexico, social inequalities between different ethnic groups, with the "natives" being relegated to the background.
