About
I was born in Cameroon. When I was young, I came to France with my parents and studied there. I have lived in several European countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland. Since 2004 I have had my base on the island of S茫o Vicente and the island of Santo Ant茫o where we do some breeding. We have a small tourism project with protection of the rural areas of the island and its traditions. This simple and free life suits me perfectly, no need for a license for this or that for the little pleasures of life. The only hitch is the stupidity of the (so-called social) government of Jos茅 Maria who introduced the IVA at 15% (VAT) in a country which imports more than 90% of its consumption. It's hard for a person from the island who wants to live the European way (well, like a poor Portuguese person), lower quality products are sold more expensive than in Portugal and when you know that the salary, for those who are lucky enough to have one, is less than 80 euros per month; it's normal there is no work or very little and often temporary.
But, for those who do not have foreign income, if you are lucky enough to have a piece of land, a little water, a little livestock and you can make do with the basic imported products, you live without breaking your head too much. I haven't noticed any stressed islanders yet, apart from those who arrive from abroad and have to get used to the cooler pace of the islands.
