About

I am a 64 year old male, originally from Massachusetts, have been living in Florida since 1986. Served 6 years in USAF 1966 -1972, stationed in Thailand, and Japan. Worked in the computer field, and also in sales. Now retired since age 62, I sell DVDs on eBay and also at flea markets in Tampa, Florida. I am looking into the possibility of retiring in Ecuador, have been looking at Cuenca, or Cotacachi as a starting area. From what I have read online, I figure that if I plan on a budget of $1500 a month, I should be able to survive as a single person. I do not need anything fancy, or extravagant, just a safe, and clean place to live. I do not want to have a car so I will need to be within walking distance to a town, or on a bus route. I would like to be able to sell thing at an outdoor market if this is possible, or find some things to export to my partner to sell here in Florida. I would also like to find products that I could sell on eBay from Ecuador if this is possible. I plan on making a trip to Ecuador in the first quarter of 2011, maybe as early as January or February. I would appreciate hearing from anyone, who has any knowledge or experience with this type of business.

Does anyone know how to get around the "return ticket" problem. I would like to travel to Ecuador, stay a while then go to Peru, and then to several other South American countries maybe over a year's total time before returning to the United ... Read More
