About

Hello folks, I am from Houston, Tx and Little Rock, Ar. Moved to Mexico in 2012, visited everywhere for the first 13 months, starting on the West Coast in Puerto Vallarta, then the central, then the East Coast in Veracruz, the Puebla, next was Cpmpeche, finally in Yucatan. Been here in Merida three years, in the same house. I need to come up to the border to renew my way over expired visa. I have not worried too much about it, but now with this fighting between countries I see it could get dangerous to my liberty really quick, even deportation with possibly loss of my possessions...kind of a pay back to the USA. Devout Christian, so no drinking, smoking, wild parties, etc. Living on Social Security so money--or the lack of--determines a lot of what I do. Not rich by any standard, but with the exchange rate I do live well here in Mexico. Looking into options about my two to three weeks I must stay close to the border. I worry about the high cost of hotel/motel stays. I wonder if I could just rent a room from someone? single female? family? at my age no biggie. If I get legal, I will need to do this every 6 months, so I am thinking maybe a good time to move back up to that area? Nothing holding me here, been single for many years, no girl friend or anything. Would love to hear some thoughts on this, firm believer two or more heads are better than one, as I am personally involved so not so objective..hope to hear from some people...thanks!
Interests: read, especially customized., Everything. Love to cook, learn. Like baseball

I agree 100%, I have lived all over Mexico in these five years and have walked in every city. I feel the people you meet on the street are the heart and soul of that city. I lived in Escarcega, Compeche for four months, and freely, without any fear, ... Read More

Hello everyone, Did you make any mistakes when you first moved to Mexico? What were they? How did you address your mistakes? Did you learn anything from them? With hindsight, what would you do differently? Are there any tips you could ...

Arkie

Plenty, was more trusting than I should have been. Also in preparing to move down here, I brought way too much stuff "I just had to have" which in turn was stored in my truck camper, and moved from one place to the next, and never used. ... Read More
