Hi! I'm planning to retire to the DR in about 4 yrs but I'd like to connect with other like-minded expats to get the "real" DR life scoop from. I plan to visit around May 2011. Currently, I live in an expensive resort town so certainly living in a less costly area is important. But being safe is right up there, too. I'm independant and sensible and not naive about what's ahead. Luckily, I won't need to work and would probably find some volunteer work on the side. While not fluent in Spanish, I have recently taken two college level courses in the language and should fare well once immersed. Look forward to hearing from you!
