About
Yes, well, I had to scroll for quite a while to find my birth year, ha!
I have been extremely fortunate in being able to live as an "expat" -as you call them- for nearly 40 years.
I was what you might refer to as a "dissident" during America's unfortunate "Viet-Nam" period of military... well, I can't really think of an inoffensive, yet descriptive word, so I'll just call it "war".
So I was happy when, in 1979, for the second time, I was able to live abroad. A friend envied me to come to Yugoslavia with him (when there WAS one.) and THIS time I just KEPT staying away.
Later, I lived in Austria for ten years. Since then, I have lived in Norway (where I was "nanny" and full time teacher for a group of 6-9 year olds); Denmark; Germany (where I was singing and performing); France, (the same); Belgium (where I met my -German- wife: a wonderful artist and mother of eight); and together, with some of her children (until they got older) we traveled and lived in; Greece; Italy; Indonesia; Switzerland; Germany and finally, Turkey.
Did I leave anything out? I'm sure! This is a condensation of 38 years! Ha!
Though I am an English teacher by profession, if you ask me what I "do"... well, I don't have enough fingers to tell you all the things I have done for a living from amazing to borderline boring.
Tonight a man got into the lift all spotted with white paint; it was Sunday! And I wanted to tell him, "Brother, I've been there too! " I have done, really, a myriad of activities to earn a living, but I think probably the most exciting, were doing volunteer work, that and being a full time 24/7 "schoolmarm". It was a "barrel of monkies"; "a continual feast" as the scripture calls it!
Also, more recently, I have done a considerable amount of copy-editing, reviewing and correcting English texts and ENGLISH translations. What, for many people, might be boring, I have come to actually enjoy; maybe it brings out the "police" in me... dunno!
OK, So why Spain? I suppose most people are aware of recent events in Turkey. Though we were comfortable there, prices, generally, are affordable, we felt some things had simply become too risky and the future unsure. We'd like to live in a warmer climate of Europe, and still be not TOO far from my wife's and my own children, so THAT'S why we're headed to Spain.
Interests: I AM interested! )
Occupation
I am Job seeker.
