There沤s about a hundred filipinos residing and working in Panama. I have lived in Panama since 2006 and never got to know the exact number of filipinos in Panama until I bumped into a group of filipinos doing sunday karaoke singing and feasting on filipino food. During the meeting called at the Philippine Consulate meeting in January 2011, 4 of us spent lunch at Multiplaza and shared the same vision of organizing one filipino community in Panama. From this 4, we were able to form an ad hoc committee who prepared the first-all filipino event: THE GRAND GET-TOGETHER OF FILIPINO WORKERS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS IN PANAMA, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the famous EDSA People Power Revolution plus the month of culture and arts. This gathering was held on February 27, 2011 at Salon La Ensenada of Club Union Panama. About 80 were in attendance.
