About

I'm a Belgian born and raised in Limburg but studied and lived in Antwerp. ( I feel like a real "Sinjoor" - Antwerpenaar) I studied history and later did one year of marketing and communications before I met my husband and moved to the UK to be with him - he's British. I lived in London for a year and hated it (you would too, living in Thamesmead). After we decided to move abroad, I quit my job as a marketing executive and we moved to Kent. Now we are moving to Dubai in August (Exciting!!) I am very easy going and absolutely love meeting new people! Although my interests have always been a bit "geeky", I am always keen to learn more about other cultures, countries, and people. Cities lived in so far: Sint-Truiden Antwerp London Gravesend (Burley and Ostend for 2 months between Gravesend and Dubai) Up next: Dubai
Interests: traveling, history, books, great food, reading, business, Art, and marketing (used to be a marketing executive), cooking, gaming

Occupation

I am Self-employed.

London, England

I started out as a marketer for a luxury beauty brand but soon made the switch to work for an international marketing agency as a marketing executive. When my husband and I decided that we would like to travel - and my husband started looking for a job as an international teacher, I decided to start freelancing in book translations and marketing.
Marketer.
England is obviously very pretty. I loved visiting my husband's family in The New Forest and making day trips to other historical cities including Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, and Salisbury. England really is a country of opportunities - especially for people who are savvy, work hard and are not afraid to think outside of the box.
I did not like the culture that much. The pub culture was very alien to me and food is actually very expensive for low to bad quality dishes. You cant get any fine food without breaking the bank. Living in London is extremely expensive. I went from living right in the heart of Antwerp to living 1h20min outside of London. Londoners do not live in London. Nobody really does - except if you have a couple of million to your name. It's sad really. I had hoped I would like the bustling city of London. But in all honesty: I have never felt more lonely. I do not think I could ever live here again - even though I am a cosmopolitan and city girl (how I would love to live in Paris!).
