I am Veronica, born in Livorno, to an Italian father and a Croatian mother. Unfortunately, my mother never had the patience to let me learn her language, so as I grew up, I became curious on my own and independently began to study the basics of Croatian to be able to communicate, even if little, with my part of the family from Eastern Europe. Ultimately, I understand enough, but the difficulty of expressing myself remains, being fussy, I hate trying to speak and getting a declension wrong, this is a flaw, I know. I practically grew up in a family-run restaurant in Livorno. This is where my passion for cooking was born. I graduated from the industrial technical institute in biology and immediately after I started working in the family business, both in the dining room and in the kitchen, but unfortunately after 17 years it ended its run closing its doors last year. I tried in vain to look for work as a chemical-biological expert without any results, so much so that I gave up. There wasn't even a discussion about dedicating my time to university because the family situation was already there criticism and I had to start supporting myself. In the meantime I worked in other places as a waitress, I worked for a year in a gym as a receptionist and sales manager and I did some babysitting on the side. Now we're not doing well, my mother works 7 days a week for very little money, while my father has still been unemployed for a year. Tired of the arguments and my family situation, I would need to disconnect and move away to have an experience that, in addition to allowing me to work, allows me to learn the language and allows me to be close to that part of the family, which I have neglected so much in recent years, given that I still don't know how long my grandmother will live. I hope sooner or later to be taken into consideration, for now I see a sad and dark future.
