My husband and I moved to Ecuador in 2014. We have lived in Cuenca, Bahia, near Quito and now we live in Cotacachi. Cotacachi is a good fit for us because it reminds us of the small towns we lived in while in the US. The community here is welcoming, it is easy to find ways to contribute and feel connected. There is also a sense of this being a spiritual place perhaps in part due to the natural beauty which is amazing. Many of the expats here are retired professionals from service oriented fields who are interested in helping the community in creative ways.
