Hello, My name is Pauline, and I live in a little town called Atherton which is in the Greater Manchester area in England. I'v lived here all my life and now at the age of 62 I am about to embark on a life changing move to come and live in Canada, specifically British Columbia. I have thought about moving to Canada for a few years now. My eldest brother moved there with his family some years ago as he and I have Canadian Citizenship through our father who was born in Canada. So I had family to go to but did not want to leave my three adult daughters behind and more recently two beautiful granddaughters. One of my daughters, her partner and two children are now in the process of arranging their move to BC, pending a job offer (hes an Arborist, just waiting for the offer🤞) I have now decided that I'm going to bite the bullet, take a leap of faith and move too. I'm scared, I'm excited, I'm hopeful, I'm apprehensive and also sad to leave my two sisters behind. My other two daughters plan to follow over the next two years as one is in the final year of training to be a Midwife and has to practice for a year before she could be accepted over in Canada. I'm hoping to settle in my own place, near to my daughter and her family. I'm looking to make like- minded friends and to join social clubs and activities that would help me to do this. A fresh start in a new country. I am a retired Social Worker after working for a local authority for 15 years. I finished work last year as I just couldn't continue in that line of work and maintain good health. Prior to that I worked as a Nursery Nurse on a Maternity Unit and that was the best job I ever had. I'm looking forward to hearing from people who can offer information and tips on how best to settle and avoid any pitfalls.
