My expat journey

Prov铆ncia de Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Unawatuna, Southern, Sri Lanka
Apart from my work, which in itself was an interesting and fascinating task, I registered a Private Limited company with the purpose of developing an online tourism intermediation project. I used this company as an intermediary consultancy and opened a third hostel for a local owner.
My life consisted of working hard, socializing with foreigners and local people, surfing in my free time (mainly on Dewata beach, between Galle and Unawatuna) and traveling around the country on my days off.
I worked as a General Manager for a locally owned hostel chain. My job consisted of directing everything from the renovation of the buildings to opening them and coordinating operations.

Colombo, Western, Sri Lanka
Little more than work, I explored Colombo a lot and I can confirm that it is an exceptional place to live and travel and with a great quality of life.
In this article I share a guide of things to see and do in Colombo as a result of my months there.

My preferred option was a sunset with drinks and dinner at Buba, enjoying Mount Lavinia beach.
I worked as a Manager in one of the hostels of a chain with 5 business units.
Now everything.
When I arrived, it took me a few weeks to get used to the local culture.
What didn't I like?
- The food. Now I love it.
- The stress of Galle Road traffic. Now I miss it.
- That many locals did not speak English. I solved that by learning Sinhala over time. Now I miss him a lot too.
