Just over 5 years ago, we bought a small farm in the foothills of a mountain in the Dominican Republic and moved from a village in Devon, England where I had lived for most of my life prior to this move.
We felt that we had good prior knowledge of how life would be like here but, like most people, experienced a huge culture shock and a large learning curve.
Having fallen in love with the country and its people, however, I am still here almost 5.5 years later with no intentions of leaving.

Hi, I can understand your concerns from what you have been told but you need to have no fear of the frogs or lizards - the only poisonous creature is the very large Cane toad and you can read about them here ... Read More
