My expat journey

Stafford, England, England

Since Sept 2019

Stafford, England, England

I'm based in Stafford in the West Midlands (just between Manchester and Birmingham).
I work in digital for a local digital agency.
I think the city is not too big and you can do everything on foot. Geographically we are very well placed, it is the crossroads between Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Shrewsbury...London is also accessible. Easy access to regional parks which is perfect for going for a weekend walk.
We don't have the dynamism of a big city for certain services we have to go to Stoke or elsewhere, particularly for certain health examinations.

Auckland, New Zealand

Jul 2018 - Aug 2019

Auckland, New Zealand

I got a long-term visa to work at a media agency in Auckland.
I work in the digital sector, "digital marketing".
I loved nature, the 'laid back' side of kiwis, whether at work or in everyday life.
Distance is the big problem with NZ.

Ipswich, England, England

Ipswich, England, England

I spent almost two years in Ipswich, I had planned to stay there for the medium to long term but a professional opportunity presented itself in Auckland.
I was an 鈥淪EO Strategist鈥 for a local digital agency. First professional opportunity outside of London.
I loved living in the marina, the proximity to all the services and businesses in town, the beauty of Suffolk County. The cost of living is more affordable than in London.
The disadvantage is that this area is a little isolated compared to the rest of the country so as long as you stay there it doesn't pose a problem but when you want to move, you have to organize yourself.

London, England, England

Feb 2011 - Oct 2016

London, England, England

I got my first job there after college (L.E.A.) and moved to London, thinking of staying there for 2-3 years.
I had a lot of professional opportunities in marketing, I had the opportunity to work on 鈥渃hallenging鈥 projects which allowed me to build a good CV for the future. Sector: digital marketing.
I really like London: the variety of neighborhoods, the markets, the museums, the exhibitions, the dynamism of the city...
I think we will all agree that the cost of living is high and the size of the city. When you have friends in the west and live in the northeast, travel times are long.
