About

I'm Dave from England, I spent a year in Holland and now I'm in French speaking Wallonia. I have started a business based in Namur and plan to stay in this fascinating country for a while. I enjoy meeting people and would like to meet English speakers that live nearby. I like to read and soak up this lazy, southern-european atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to message me.
Interests: hiking, Learning French., meeting people, reading, , exploring europe, dogs

My expat journey

englandnetherlandsbelgium
Namur, Belgium

Since Oct 2011

Namur, Belgium

Starting a recycling business that covers the whole of Wallonia.
Rookie Businessman, learning life's lessons the hard way.
Quiet. Scenic in the sun. Friendly people. Old-fashioned. Central location in the region. Kriek and great lager. Wine for chips, and chips!
Quiet. I was Woefully unprepared for the genuine lack of English spoken here. Old-fashioned. Laid back pace of life is weird for an Englishman.

Utrecht, Netherlands

Sept 2010 - Oct 2011

Utrecht, Netherlands

Worked in a variety of roles for a small business.
Various, manager, sales.
Affluent country seems to be booming despite the recession.
Overcrowded. Strange set of manners. Expensive. Rubbish beer and bars.

Newcastle, England

Mar 1982 - Sept 2010

Newcastle, England

I grew up in Northumberland, England close to the Scottish border.
Studied Psychology for years, brief spell in the Parachute regiment, recently trained in sales and now I'm in business.
It's good old England!
Bad government has left a damaging legacy.
