About

I studied in different countries (United States, Thailand, London). A single email took me to China as it could have been to Alaska. I think it was a sign of destiny, because I have been there for almost 5 years now. A job that was only a dream for me fell into my hands. Develop contacts in still little-explored destinations in China, and accompany groups as a French translator. So I learned and traveled, until the end of my mission 6 months later. However, so much had happened for me that first year (which was, by some coincidence, the year of my Chinese sign (the rat), and when I arrived in China on New Year's Day), that I realized after three months that I was not leaving again. A significant part of my life would be spent here. At the end of my mission, I decided to create and offer my own local incoming services to allow people to discover the real China, not just Beijing, Shanghai or the tourist Disneylands like Lijiang (which, by the way, has very beautiful things to offer in its immediate surroundings and is in itself not a useless stop on a tour). It's a passion. I haven't met a single person who hasn't tried to express to what extent China surprised them, changed them, upset them, interested them... It's really what we can call, literally, another world. Unlike many expats, I live in a village which, contrary to its first appearance, is a real Chinese country village, where few of the services we are used to arrive, where it is close to impossible to find an apartment with Western toilets, where I doubt that a single person knows the highway code, where the locals look at foreigners (although numerous in season) like pink-spotted leopards, where it is a challenge to find a scooter that works more of a week in a row, where the government office is not the only authority to respect... Certainly the hotels are now numerous and relatively equipped, but try asking for a fruit salad in a restaurant claiming to offer Western food, you will be surprised to discover fruit... in a chemical mayonnaise (salad-->fruit). The landscapes are sublime, the local inhabitants still very traditional in their thoughts, their actions and their way of life.

Happy revolution in my life: the arrival of my little man.
Working as an international tour operator
Not much. Only escapes into the lagoon and swimming in a river spot
Way too much stuff. Unspeakable mentality... Anti-French racism in contrast to the constant demand for profit from French financial aid and skills. Melanesian population, Caledoche and Zoreille (mainland French) do not mix and on principle (without any reflection) hate each other. All these signs of ignorance and the refusal of any positive movement are exasperating and prevent any lasting involvement. The ethics of sincerity and loyalty are totally non-existent here. All these observations are obvious to everyone, but NOTHING moves because most people in politics are not competent to decide and therefore do not decide anything, or only act for their own commercial interests by blocking any risk of competition. Ridiculously expensive living for service that is not shabby, but simply non-existent. You don't believe it? Me neither until I saw the absurdity of the reality here. In short, a country to disgust, where I only expect one thing, to return to freedom, to leave this golden prison as soon as I have managed to make a minimum of savings to be able to leave (because here, a "normal" salary is not enough to provide for essential needs, so savings are 0 or trickle!)

the opportunities
the lack of education of the majority of the population in public, the culture of deception/lies, the enormous amount of time spent (wasted) negotiating each step taken during the day (each purchase, each request...), the fact of always being treated differently as a foreigner, regardless of the time spent in this environment.

Seoul, South Korea

Aug 2012 - Jan 2012

Seoul, South Korea

Korean studies at Sunkkyungwan university. Part time job in a VIP cafe/wine bar receiving senior management from LG and GS Construction, contact and recruitment by Veta Consultant (Mikang Steel Corp) but my work visa was not received on time.
I really liked the people, the fact that there are rules and that they are respected (unlike China...), the city is extremely dynamic, full of life, the Koreans are very westernized while having strong traditions for which they have respect. You can find everything in Korea (food, accessories, EVERYTHING)
The winter weather was the only problem, as I am not a fan of the extreme cold. The importance of money, and not a little money, but A LOT.
