Life here is very pleasant. The weather is almost always warm there most of the year. There is a large French community in Houston and its surrounding areas.
I don't work.
Texas is a really nice place and Texans are generally very friendly and will happily help you if needed. Believe me, it's a change from France where you can fall on the spot and wait 20 minutes for an "exceptional" charitable soul to dare to look at you. Here Even when you don't ask for any help we ask you if we can help you. It happened to me in the street when I was leaving a store when I must have been a little sick and had a bad face. It seemed barely believable to me, if not downright unreal. At first I thought 鈥淢ust be a hidden camera somewhere!!!鈥� ? Afterwards we no longer dare look at people for fear that they will all offer to help us with anything. There are many things here that I like but that I won't be able to explain because there are so many. For example: I have always been surprised by the waiters in restaurants who come to ask you every 15 minutes if everything is okay; if the food is good... Etc... Compared to France it seems crazy. Same in stores. Same questions... At first we don't really understand but very quickly we realize that here in the USA the customer is King! And everything is done to make him feel like one?. This is also their state of mind: being pleasant and helpful to their neighbors. For the waiters there is also the fact that their salaries only depend on the tip... so it is also in their interest to be super adorable with their customers. But I think that naturally the Texan is nice and helpful.
The things I don't like are: 1- papers; plastics that we see almost everywhere thrown on the side of the roads in superb green spaces too and that.. It saddens me. That said in France too and like everywhere else. 2- the 鈥淕uns鈥� (firearms) and the fact that the majority of people are armed. We are never safe from a shooting anywhere. So always remain very vigilant regardless of what is happening around you and know the first security rules to adopt in the event of an attack. 3- I don't like storms either. But when we live here we accept the pluses or the minuses. So we must always remain very vigilant with the weather and inform ourselves every day. The time can vary dramatically in the space of a few minutes sometimes. From bright sunshine to tornado like heatwave and severe cold too.

The kindness and generosity of Bruneians.
Mosquitoes and other creatures are not very friendly. Migal Scorpions. snake (black Mamba) that I kindly took out of my house as if it were a little Orvet even though it was Mortal!!! Deadly centipede too. Terrible. If you like insects you will be served. Lol
