My expat journey

Erd, Hungary
Currently living with my girlfriend and her family while looking for work.
I like the look and the oldness as it has character.
Most of the bars seem to turn their fridges off for an hour every two hours so you might end up with only a moderately chilled beer.

Just curious if anyone has any good suggestions for someone or a place who could teach me Hungarian in the Budapest area. I'm a complete beginner but would only need to get the basics down as once I get that I can rely on my girlfriend and her mum ... Read More
Expat hobbies by Julien
Hi everybody, What's your favourite hobby (appart from blogging ;))? Is there any kind of "local hobby" where you are? Well my favourite hobby (computers) is not very original, but I can say I like the petanque, you know that game we practise in ...
Hobbies include gaming (as I've always been a bit of a nerd since my first Atari), reading, vegging out in front of the telly with a friend or two to watch a movie, visiting forest for a walk and some conversation, put on some music and play along ... Read More
Loneliness when you're abroad by Julien
Do you often feel lonely when you're abroad? I personaly suffered on week ends while I was in the UK. Even if I had several friends, I often missed my family and friends (from home). So I walked, visited museum, went to concerts, worked more... ...
Msn, text messaging, computer games, usually how I avoid/overcome loneliness. I tend to get out to local gigs and events too as I try not to sit in and play games all the time as its really not the best solution, but, being able to text a friend ... Read More
