My blog follows my family of four from south of Boston, MA, USA to Palmerston North, NZ, then to Christchurch. I am a teacher and private tutor, and my husband Mike just got a job as a software engineer in Christchurch. We packed up all our stuff and moved here Oct 2nd, 2012. My kids Zack, age 3, and Ben, and 6, are enrolled in school here and are adjusting OK. We even have a Kiwi cat: Mr. Purrsalot!

There is racism in NZ. It is more pronounced on the South Island. The North Island in Auckland or Wellington would be OK. There are very few black or African Americans here. It would be about 1/150 people. Maori and Pasifica and Asian are the ... Read More
