Clean air, water, and food. Wide, green streets, large parks, the bay - pretty much everything!

Finishing one novel and getting at least one more to presentable draft stage for submission (obviously they are all in progress!)
Currently: full time writer and expat wife.
Back in Australia, I was an Audio Producer, Spoken Word Director, Script Editor, Writer (the Writing never stops.)
The private hospitals were very good - they have to be.
Air, water and food pollution. Lifestyle only for extroverts. Hypocrisy and corruption, everything - everything - is for sale.

Poor quality of Transport both public system and roads. Lack of cultural life, or access to it, if you live further out of CBD than Newtown (i.e., very, very close to the CBD by a normal person's standards). Poor quality and high expense of food, particularly fruit and vegies which taste of the local, chlorinated tap water unless you buy organic (if you can afford it). Racism (especially on "Australia Day" - made me ashamed to be an Australian.)

Great Public transport to get in and out of city where there is a varied and vibrant cultural life which is welcoming to all. Lots of parks and green areas no matter how far out you live. Fantastic Restaurants and Food markets - high quality produce from market gardens surrounding the city, even if it's not organic it's of a high standard. Influence of the many cultures of those who have made Melbourne their home from all over the world is evident and available to any who want to explore it.
Too far away from the rest of the world!

Oh, and 50baht over flagfall (85baht total) from the international airport to Bangkok, is outrageously low - it costs 65baht from Suan Plu, Sathorn to Sukhmvit 18 - do some proper research on costs before you start ranting at drivers that they are ... Read More

Prettyboy, A) TukTuks are tourist experiences, not taxis, and part of the experience is the bargaining - they never expect you to accept the first price unless you are a "muppet". You should never, ever expect to pay the same price for a tuktuk as ... Read More
