Hi, I am a military spouse of a communications soldier who is about to retire. We have 1 child (10). We have been talking about moving to Costa Rica for some time now. We have been doing a lot of reading online and watching videos about life in Costa rica as an expat. We realize that there are alot of things to consider with this type of move. We are familiar with moving around Canada but to leave it behind is anohter thing! We are looking for a less stressful life but still want some of the familiar extras of life. Example, internet use, good school, decent place to live with A/C! WE have read that 60% of people end up relocating back to Canada in less than a year, due to not being prepared for the life style changes etc...We would really like to connect with a Canadian who could help us with some advice on location, schools, rentals etc...If there is someone out there who would be willing to help start us we would be thankful! We are bringing our vehicle with us and going to rent for a while, so I mostly concerned with having a lawyer for all the "paperwork"...drivers licence, insurance, dealing with the process of applying for residency etc...We are making a check list ... Read More

bringing seeds into Costa Rica by lauramacpherson

We will be in Costa Rica for 4 months. I wanted to grow some veggies and herbs while we are there. Does anyone know if you are allowed to bring unopened seed packets from the US into Costa Rica? Thanks. Laura
