I have been living in Medellin over a year and do not care for it. I like Colombians, but Paisas are quite the different breed. Have lived in Cartagena and Bogota and visited Barranquilla and Bucaramanga. I'll probably be moving to Buca. It appears to be the most livable of Colombian cities, albeit virtually without other expats. Which can be tough.

Actually, the Swiss Guard in the Vatican have automatic weapons too. They are true guards. Costa Rica got rid of its army. Not long ago, Nicaragua decided to bite off a piece and not give it back. Don't worry about militaries. Focus on nice people. Read More
