About

I travelled to Rwanda with World Dance for Humanity (formerly World Dance Santa Barbara) a newly formed NGO, to meet with the groups of people we have been supporting for over a year in different cooperatives around the country. The group left and I stayed behind with $1000 and an open return ticker. I have a variety of skills ranging from a Degree in Nursing, Hooping, Yoga teacher, Water Release Therapy, Dance, working with children, cooking and knew there was a use for them in this country. I followed the signs that clearly directed me to this country and to more healing in my life. What ended up happening changed the course of my life forever!! Check out my blog: www.iamloveinaction.org to learn more!
Interests: writing, water, dance, , yoga

The Pas, MB, Canada

Starting a business and a non-profit to support my work in Rwanda and create the life I want to live.
Wellness, Healing and Transformational leadership
Its my hometown and everyone knows me, even after all these years away! I have support for what I want to do in my life. It has a rich culture and I am able to learn more about myself while living here through it.
Its is very remote which presents challenges to accessing the things I may need or want but that is not really a bad thing! I would really like some sushi though!!

Kigali, Rwanda

Jul 2013 - Nov 2013

Kigali, Rwanda

World Dance for Humanity brought me to Rwanda. Once here I hosted part of a world wide dance event called Thrill The World Kigali. I began a project called "Love Hoop Rwanda" and "Self Healing Art". Now I am back in Canada to earn money and start a non-profit to build a home/centre for the dancers/children I worked with during my time there.
I have a background in Nursing, Yoga, Water Therapy, Dance and many other things but am now bringing it all together into a new package that fulfills me and leads to more love and joy in the world.
Beautiful energy, warm loving people and a rich culture that embraces people from all over the world. I loved the dancing, language, markets, clothing, and ease of life that is possible. I felt extremely safe all the time. There is so much untapped potential in the people and the land which makes for room to grow and an ease of which things can be facilitated. Lots of hard working people who want to be doing, acting and who want to share their lives with you.
Divide between rich and poor is extreme and challenging to be around when one wants to help but knows money is not the answer.

I have been told that within 15 days of arrival in Kigali I must attend the immigration office with certain documentation. Can you tell me what documents and or photographs are needed. I shall be in Rwanda 11 months primarily, I have a UK passport.

Yes, there is that option of crossing into other countries every 90 days and I have lots of friends who do that as well. Depends on the country you are from, UK right? I'll ask my UK friends in Kigali and see what they say but if you need a Visa for ... Read More

Uraho, You will need two passport sized photos with a white background which you can get done easily at any of the photo express shops along the road and they will cost about 1000-2000 RWF. All payments for Visa's are in RWF, which depends on the ... Read More
