My expat journey

Basque Country, Spain
I fell in love with a Vitoriano so I moved in here.
-Beautiful peaceful city, near the Rioja vineyards, Bilbao, and many other lovely places.
- Lots of green areas
- Safe city to live
- Close minded people, not used to foreigners and their new customs and flavours. Specially towards Moorish and Chinese people.
- Siesta... as any small city everything is closed M/F from 2-5 pm, Sat afternoons only huge stores, the mall and bars are open and Sundays, only bars, churches and bakery stores are open in the morning.
- Bad school system, Euskera is mandatory in every school and English, even though also mandatory, is VERY limited (my 7 year old niece, a native Spanish speaker, has better English than any local adult). I'll really be needing to move elsewhere once my child turns 4

Lima, Peru
My home, finished School and college here.
Couldn't tell... completely biased :)

Mexico City, Mexico
My father was an expat in Mexico City and we spent some years there. I loved the experience and still keep friends from then.
Everything
I was too small to realize any bad point about it

Lima, Peru
This is home for me I would go back in a heartbeat!

Pregnancy in the Basque Country by Christine
Hi, could you please share advice and tips about pregnancy in the Basque Country? Who are the best gynecologists for pregnancy follow-ups? Which hospitals or clinics would you recommend to give birth in the Basque Country? Thanks a lot ...
Hi again Yesterday I went to the Dr. he was ok, so much better than Osakidetza (Basque public sanitary service) but I still feel I should've gone back home to give birth, unfortunately it's already late for me to be able to get into a plane for a ... Read More

Hi, My answer is also late, but hope this serves for future moms to be. I've been using both the public hospital and a private practice for follow ups about my pregnancy (33w5d) because I'm not happy with the public follow ups (very few check ups ... Read More
