About

I am a "Norwegian-American." I was born in Norway, but my family emigrated to the U.S. when I was an infant. I grew up and worked in the U.S. for most of my life, so I had become "Americanized." I have always wanted to return to Norway to live, and I decided to do so upon my retirement in 2012. A couple of years before my retirement, I had a new house built in Norway (which was an adventure by itself). I am now getting acquainted with the Norwegian customs, society, and system, and I am enjoying its people. I have also been able to obtain a part-time job in Norway. The adventures just go on and on.

Build a house by yorkie100

Does anybody have an idea of the cost of building a new house in Norway? There are plenty of companies that advertise but none seem to give a price. Has anybody done this? I wondered if it's cheaper than buying an existing house?

I had a house built here in Norway (while I was still living in the U.S.). It was quite an adventure, and I don't recommend doing it that way. It would have been better if I was living here while the house was under construction. You can read ... Read More
