My husband and I moved from Marblehead, Massachusetts, to relocate to Phnom Penh to volunteer with NGOs in the city. I am British and worked as a journalist in South Africa and presently doing freelance articles for a variety of publications and websites in SE Asia.

The incredible warmth and hospitality of the people, discovering the many hidden gems among the chaos of the streets, riding tuktuks through the city, exploring the wonderful markets filled with brilliant silks and interesting artefacts.
The chaos of the traffic (which actually grows on you) and some of the unpleasant smells around some of the streets.
