Hello...I am French and I came with a tourist visa to join my partner in Quebec. We want to live together and get married but we are encountering almost insurmountable difficulties, it seems because of his past. He has a long criminal record, and even if his life has completely changed it follows him, and blocks us just as much in Canada, as from going to live together in France since the new immigration laws. Someone had promised me an application for a work contract so that I could obtain a residence permit, but after four months I learned that the file has still not been submitted, my situation makes it difficult to request an extension of my visitor's stay and the date of my departure is close. We would like to live in Canada, but this record prohibits him from sponsoring me, and we are looking for solutions, ways out, the possible possibility of obtaining an exemption from this ban. If this is not possible, we try to get married at the embassy and obtain through marriage the direct request for a residence permit which allows us to avoid the need for a long-stay visa, which also risks being refused because of this record... So the option is either for me to come and live in Canada, or for him to come and live in France, but what can I do with this record?
