Mexican hospitality! They are very warm and open to anyone who crosses their path.
The macho side disguised as supra-gallantry, the fact that it is difficult to walk down the street in a skirt/shorts without being ogled and/or whistled at and/or heckled (at least in Puebla which is a fairly conservative city).

Pomona, California, USA

Exchange student at Cal Poly Pomona
6 months of internship in Long Beach
I made friends with whom I saw and did lots of things, and who then were there when I needed a place to sleep while I found an internship and a roommate, and who also agreed to accompany me to various places, knowing that I didn't have a car.
Californians are very welcoming through culture and politeness. So, it鈥檚 true that for us French it can seem a little false. It can sometimes be difficult to make real friendships with locals. But after several months, we end up finding people who suit us, at least in the student environment. Also, some Americans are very proud to be American and not necessarily always very open-minded because they really think that they live in the best place in the world. For someone who loves to travel like me, he's not necessarily the type of person I've spent the most time with.
