Osaka, New-York and Los Angeles now in Top 10 most expensive cities!

Following ranking of cities with the highest cost of living published by The Economist Intelligence Unit in mid-march, 大咖福利影院 analyses what has changed in the past 12 months.

Cities that have made their way into the Top 10:

Osaka

Osaka is the fifth most expensive city with Geneva, Switzerland, according to The Economist ranking. Moving up the ranking by six places, Osaka is the second largest Japanese city after Tokyo. The munity in Osaka is also smaller than that of Tokyo although Osaka was also ranked third most liveable city in the world by The Economist Intelligence Unit in 2018. The Japanese city has been commanded for its social stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

New-York

Ranking seventh together with Seoul, South Korea and Copenhagen in Denmark, is New York. The most populous city in the United States has climbed six places as it was ranked 13th last year. The Economist Intelligence Unit believe this rise can be explained by the strong economic growth in the US leading to sharp appreciation of the US dollar. The city ranked first in TimeOut's 2019 ranking of the best cities in the world, taking into account city-dwellers feedback on food, drink, culture, overall life satisfaction and a few other factors.

Los Angeles comes in at the 10th place in The Economist Intelligence Unit's ranking of the cities with the highest cost of living. The US city has moved up four places as it was ranked 14th last year. Los Angeles is also a very popular city amongst expat. It was, actually, ranked fifth best city in the world by TimeOut in february 2019.

Sydney

Sydney has moved out of the Top 10 cities with the highest cost of living. The most populous city in Australia, is also the most expensive in the country. In 2018, rents have dropped for the first time in 12 years.

Oslo

Oslo has moved out of the Top 10. The capital of Norway attracts a smaller number of expats but is a popular student destination, despite the cost of living. Indeed, Norway's universities are free and courses are in English.
