So, I'm not an expatriate yet. But I have lived for a few months abroad and the thing I missed the most is my family and friends

In addition to Family and Friends i miss the winter when i used to have Oranges while sitting in Sun light... plus the festivals

It's pretty easy to stay in touch with family and friends, via email, FB, Skype, etc., so that's not such a big issue. What I really miss the most are the cheap sources of "stuff" such as the Goodwill Outlet store we had in our old neighborhood, garage sales, craigslist, etc. It takes a lot of time and craftiness to find deals even half as good here in Costa Rica.
