About messages

Hi why we have to be active in Forum to send messages? Why it should be like that?? I don't understand it. Otherwise I don't see any more problem.

Spammers, dear chap.
The forum admin did that in an attempt to stop spam and other nasties getting into members' inboxes.

Having said that, I'm getting PMs from a zero post member at the moment but they seem legitimate and I have no problem with it.
I do rather dislike the "I'm a single lady and would love to take of your trousers and empty your wallet" type stuff but I haven't had one of them in months.

The magazine founder who couldn't afford pants :D

I get messages from people with 0 posts all the time.聽 I think you have to be active in one way or another, not necessarily post.

I never seem to get those.

Spam Engines are the reason that members must be active in the forums. There are programs that people use to register on unprotected social networks that send out bulk junk mailouts through the network's private mail system and extract e-mail addresses that members are foolish enough to post and send out to their e-mail addresses as well.

We make people participate to know they are real people, not spammers or Spam Engines. Other sites make it necessary to confirm your registration through a valid e-mail address.

So if you're tempted to post your e-mail address in an open forum don't do it.

even -----聽 ze.ninguem[at]mymail.com聽 gets caught by the spam engines and converted properly to send out junk, be careful
So if I type m.bachmann[at]house.gov all the bots will send an e-mail?
