The unemployment rate is getting lower and lower in Canada: 6% in December 2005. 8% in Quebec. It's the best rate for 30 years.

France's massive unemployment has been the main problem for at least the last 20 years. No politician seems to be able to solve it. And no one in France seems to accept any reform...

IT IS a very good reason indeed and I would say it always has been the case for major waves of emigration in Europe: Italy, Spain, Ireland,... The eastern Europe will be next, it's inevoidable (I read something on this in The Economist) and so we'll be force to adapt or move.

But while the salaries are submitted to pressure in the private sector, CEO's is increasing steadily to obscene proportions. How long people will be able to cope with that?

Well, here in South Africa the unemployment rate is slightly above 40%. This also explains the massive difference between the poor and rich in this country.
So, South Africa is suffering a major "brain drain", as they call it.
Healthy white males are the last to get a job, disabled black women the first. That's why many young white South Africans leave the country straight after graduating, mostly to work in the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

In the Dominican Republic the unemployment is around 40 % as well.
Many young people come here from Canada foremost, and dream of a life in the Caribbean, to work in tourism.
It is not a correct picture though, as tourism businesses might be owned by immigrants in some cases, but they do not hire young Canadians..:-)
They hire locals, and encourage the law to have 80 % local staff, that also is the most properiate for the work as they have their social nets, families, living etc in order.
It is also what the tourist expect.

Most expats that lived here are either very rich, or have their own businesses, or have special skills in certain fields.
Or they are just adventures, visiting for shorter, longer, forever and take the day as it comes.

That's very true! Here in Miami it's almost the same picture about expats. About the staff,  they hire mostly Mexican or South American people because they're willing to work for nothing and unfortunatily most of the time, illegal.
The unemployment rate in miami is 3.9 vs the national average of 4.8, but a lot of people live below the poverty level and of course some are way above this level.
