Vaccines required in Egypt

Diksha

Hello everybody,

When living or moving abroad, and in particular in Egypt, vaccination against certain diseases is often required to enter the country or to avoid risks.

We would like to ask you a few questions to help future expats there.

What is your relationship to vaccines in general?

Did you get vaccinated before moving to Egypt?
Were these vaccinations compulsory or recommended?

Did you refuse to get any vaccine that was recommended for Egypt? If so, why?

If you are an expatriate in Egypt, are you encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine? Do you have access to the vaccine and do you plan to get it?

Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?

Many thanks,

Diksha,

Depends where you are coming from. If you are coming from certain countries in Africa, they require the yellow fever vaccination certificate.

It is not available yet in Egypt except for medical staff for now.

Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?
No, just a PCR test done with-in 72 hours.

Hi all-

For the record.
Vaccines rock.  I have been vaccinated, my daughter.  Everyone I know has been.  Vaccines help.

Now, I've traveled here to Egypt, no vaccine/travel shots were required. I did check.

Now, covid.  I wish as an expat we can get the vaccine BUT vaccines-last reported-will be for Egyptian citizens here.  Per the US Embassy-to date-we are not on a list of eligible recipients.   Only those in the US will receive the vaccine. It puts me and other Americans in a difficult position.

So far, I haven't found any other information.

Now future travel?  It will be interesting.

I never worried about that as I had all needed shots through the years, and no I was not worry about COVID-19 as I take care of staying masked while in traffic, or in certain areas... Drink lot of water, and watch my steps...

For Covid-19 vaccination you can register, expat or Egyptian, here:

I successfully registered my wife and myself yesterday and have been allocated a registration number. I have no idea how long it will take to be called for the jab.

As of today, the priorities are elederly people without chronic diseases (over 65 I think), people with chronic diseases of all age groups, and workers in the medical sector.
