Hello and welcome!

If you wish to start an NGO, you must register with the government of Kenya.

As for your work permit, surely if you have been married for some years, you should look into the possibility of instead applying for permanent residency, or dual citizenship (if this is allowed for Belgians).

Which room are you in Two Rivers?
Dear Coenraerds,
Firstly welcome to Kenya and hope you feel at home here.
Secondly, as Longonot has said to operate the NGO in Kenya you will be required to have several things.
IE.
1. the NGO will have to be registered.
2. You will need to have a work permit.(in the alternative that you will not have gotten the permanent residency or citizenship.

Recommendation.
due to the difficulties in forming NGO and the many registration processes you could try establishing a trust(foundation)聽 instead as they operate in the same manner only that the later is easier in formation and operation.
