Registering a business is quite easy.聽 You will also need to register with Kenya Revenue Authority and obtain a PIN.聽 Once you have a PIN you will be liable to complete tax returns irrespective of whether you leave Kenya.

The difficulty as a foreigner is to obtain the permit to allow you to work within the company you have registered - all types of work are illegal in Kenya without the correct work permit.聽 To work within your own company you need a Class G: (Specific trade, business or consultancy) permit.聽 This requires you to have a minimum $100,000 or equivalent in another currently, to invest.

There are ways round this such as owning property, which is rented and fully managed by a Kenyan management company.
