Let me explain:
The whole reason I am posting is to give information "as accurately as I can make" to fellow members of this forum because I would hate to think they are are left in the dark because they are stuck indoors with no communication tools.

the internet service "wimax" is still on albeit throttled but none the less possible

the information I give is what i think is plausible.

If fellow members especially the ones that i am familiar with and have followed for the past year or so ask me to stop giving out information I am more than happy to stop
I would like to stress that I am putting myself at risk for doiig this because there is still a risk I can be tracked down? maybe? but I dont care I want to help.

I, for one, appreciate your efforts.聽 It is very unnerving for those of us with friends & loved ones in Libya to feel so cut off from everyone and unable to help.

Hello guys,

hope you are save. We are out of tripoli since this morning. The airport was working very slow and getting more and more crowded.

Austrian embassy is evacuating everybody. Tomorrow at 17.00 is the next flight with a hercules from Tripoli airport. Try to contact sutrian embassy.+218-21-4443-379

4000 turkish labor keep waiting in Benghazi Hugo chavez stadium. Similar situation in Beyda, Al jula, Tajoura.
Turkish goverment send to ferry boats and 1 fregatte as escort for evacuation 1200 people. Frequently add flights to istanbul are organised.

Two libyan fighter jets have defected to Malta聽 both pilots have refused to bomb Tripoli.聽聽Confirmed by pictures and eye witnesses,聽聽

Libyan diplomats also coming out condeming all this.

To all forumers stay inside and keep safe, hopefully this will soon be over.

The area between Ben Ashour and the cost line is a complete warzone right now. The sky is surrounded by tracer bullets. We can hear bullets flying over our roof in Ben Ashour area.

People do not go on roofs outside in this area, lost bullets might hit you!

With the greatest respect聽 I suggest you do not post like this based on heresay etc. it is not thing to to do. if you want to give such information give it to tv type chanells.

This thread is聽 for all people just now in libya and there friends and families聽 outside.

Only post confirmed facts that will give the people sitting in there houses advice on developments.聽聽

This is a time for cool calm聽 posts,聽聽that can give comfort and help for the people.聽 To keep everybody in the loop with factual information and advice on events so it helps them

So for all folks in libya keep safe you are in all our thoughts who are not there.

I am so sorry my posts have upset you.
I thought I was very careful not to be alarmist but there you go.
I must be imagining the terror currently felt by every child, woman and man in my neighbourhood expecially when we keep hearing gun fire not to mention the pictures we see on our screens from the past few days.
btw I have conciously not posted 95% of the heresay stories i hear and rightly so.

To expats currently in Libya

Please don't be too alarmed as long as you stick to the advice given by your embassies and use common sense. If you need supplies I would suggest you get help from your libyan contacts as things might get tense over the coming days.

To expat libyan,

I been through something similar in baku & Tbilisi, ie happening right under my apartment,聽 so what is needed is calm precise posts,聽 for the many people of this forum in there homes just now.

Also for there families and friends outside libya.聽 I to have friends inside Tripoli just now, and am in the process of moving there.

So thats why I ask.

We have a guy in the Al-Waddan who we can skype with from time to time.聽 Apparently the regime has hired African mercenaries to shoot people indiscriminately.聽 He saw them on the streets in Tripoli.聽 Presumably to distance the shooters from the government.

According to the BBC, Gaddafi has just appeared briefly, wearing a stupid hat and holding an umbrella whilst sitting in a car with a huge mic in it.
All he said was i am not in venzeuala i am in tripoli.

I am in Janzour, the phones are working for local calls intermittently and everyone is ringing around checking on each other. Everyone seems safe, I have not heard of any expats being hurt.
We have not heard any bombings but we did hear brief spurts of gunfire last night.

Driving around during the day doesn't seem to be a problem.

There are thousands of workers stuck in the desert, I've spoken to a couple and they are staying put for now. There is major looting of equipment going on but the workers seem fine.

The Radisson in Tripoli centre was attacked last night but nobody was hurt.

The airport is chaotic and nobody knows if the planes will come in today.

Many of the larger western companies have their own VSAT based communications systems which are unaffected by the regime's black-out of LTT etc. Perhaps he has access to one of these?

I have just arrived back from Tripoli.

If you want to give accurate information to people, please go out to the street and then report. Stop spreading panic here as many people have their friends and families in Libya. They should be safe as long as they are inside their houses. Hope evacuation will take place for everyone soon.

No outgoing flights. Thousands of people standing outside in front of closed doors. Our people are there too. This was the situation 30 mins ago. Hard to get connection with them.
