I'm Kofi from Ghana, will be glad if you could assist me with few informations regarding life at Mauritius.

An agent is recommending a work there for me but I want to do a personal background enquiries to be sure of what lies ahead.

Let me begin with these few questions;

The person wanna help me secure a tourist visa and he says once I get there, I can get an accommodation for a month and feed myself as well. However, within the month he'll speak to someone there to secure a job for me as a waiter in a restaurant, where I will be provided with free accommodation and feeding with a good salary (mentioned above $700 a month).

Please, friends there. What's the reality there regards to this especially coming in with a tourist visa with intentions to get a job

FWIW: When an offer is TOO GOOD to be true BEWARE !

First thing : you can't seek employment whilst you are on a TOURIST VISA in Mauritius.
