Extra Info Mixed Marriage - British/Moroccan

Hello everyone

I am aware there is an already open topic about my same case (british/moroccan marriage) but some things to me are new and still pretty unclear. I would be eternally grateful to receive your help.

My fiance and I are in the process of getting married. However, there seems to be an infinite list of documents. This is what we have found out so far. I'll need to get the following documents in the UK:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Criminal record
  • Divorce certificate (if applicable)
  • Salary Certificate or Tax or Pay Statement
  • Certificate of Nationality

Source:

While birth certificate and criminal records are a no brainer, and I don't need a divorce certificate as I've never been married, I have some questions regarding:

  1. Salary Certificate - Is this just a simple letter that I can ask my employer to write where he states I am currently employed?
  2. or Tax or Pay Slips - I am translating the website which is in french so do I need all of these or salary certificate will be enough? Also, if I need pay slips, how many do I need? Last 6 months will do? And for the tax factor, Is this a specific certificate or can I just download and print a statement from the HMRC app?
  3. Nationality Certificate - I have made some research and it seems to me that a nationality certificate is only for people who do not hold a british passport (maybe they are naturalised british). Since I was born in the UK and hold a British passport, will the birth certificate be enough?

Now, according to the same site, there are documents to be issued in Morocco:

  • Prenuptial medical certificate (in Arabic)
  • 4 passport photos
  • Criminal record issued from the Ministry of Justice in Rabat (untranslated)
  • certificate of marital capacity, issued by the Consulate General in Morocco of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (translated)
  • Act of conversion to Islam
  • Photocopy of the passport with the date of entry into Morocco

So my questions here are:

  1. Do I have to book appointments for all these tasks? Because I am in the army and unfortunately is very hard for me to ask for days off, generally we get sent on holidays on specific dates that they tell us with very little time in advance. What is the waiting time to get an appointment generally? Is it weeks or months?
  2. Does (translated) in this case mean that i have to translate that document or that it comes translated already since it's been produced in Morocco? Also, could you please tell me what documents need translating (including those produced in the UK) please?
  3. At some point they mention that these documents need to be "legalised" and signed by ministries. Could you tell me how to obtain that? Do they come already signed and legalised?

Furthermore, I also hold an Italian citizenship. Will I be required to gather any documents related to this citizenship as well?

I appreciate that I might appear as a dummy for asking some of these questions but I just want to make sure I get all of the documents right the first time because it would a massive headache to organise everything and have to cancel over missing document or mistakes. Correction, it would be a disaster.

I thank you very much in advance for your time and attention and I hope some good soul out there can help me clarify all this confusion in my head

Kind regards

Antonio

The signature on all of the documents issued by British Consular Staff will need to be legalised at the nearest Ministry of Foreign Affairs Legalisation Office.

Addresses for Legalisation Offices in Morocco are:

* 锘匡豢Rabat :Rue Tamasloht, Rabat-Hassan (pour Arabie Saoudite, Emirats Arabes

* Unies et Espagne) 8, Rue de T茅touan, Rabat-Hassan (pour autres pays).

* 锘匡豢Agadir: Avenue Hassan II, Imm. Wafabank ,Hay Al inbiaat 1er Etage.

* 锘匡豢Tanger: 44, Avenue Tarik Ibn Ziad, Imm. Wafabank, Drissia ler Etage.

* 锘匡豢Nador : Immeuble Derdiz, Avenue Hassan II, 1er Etage.

* 锘匡豢Beni-Mellal : 33, Avenue Mohamed V ler 脡tage.鈥═he legalised documents may then need to be translated into Arabic.

You are advised to check with the Family Court Judge, in the district where you plan to be married, whether you need to get them translated into Arabic or not.

(A updated list will be given by the Embassy at the time of your appointment)

Hope this helps

Thank you for this, much appreciated

@Vakil

Hello Arif, thank you for the info

Do you know if the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Legalisation Office requires appointment or is on a walk in basis?

@AntonioCap - its a walk-in service. depending on how busy they are, you could be in and out in 5 mins, or may have to wait in a long queue. i was in and out in 5 mins. good luck

@AntonioCap

Luckily you can walk in same day during office hours. its advisable to get there as early as possible and they tend to open from 9am until 5pm but timing may very. also note ramadan hours from march will differ. Its first come first served bases and can get quite busy hence try to get there early as possible. it takes 5 mins to complete the process once its your turn.

@Vakil thank you very much for this. does ramadan entails that they will be closed or just perhaps shorter hours ? thank you for that, I actually wasn鈥檛 thinking of that

@AntonioCap

will be shorter hours.

Hello all

I'd just like to establish what documents I need to have apostilled and legalised to marry my moroccan fiance.

Documents I'll be submitting as far as I'm aware:

Please let me know if I need more...

Birth certificate

Divorce absolute

Payslips

Acro and DBS

Salary information from Employer...

Do all of these need to be apostilled and/or legalised?

@Yasmin21

Any documents you are submitting in English and any document from the UK in general needs to be legalised in Morocco and then translated to Arabic by a court certified translator.

I don't think payslips need to be submitted, you just need a letter signed from your employer confirming your employment and salary details. There was no mention of needing payslips on the checklist I was given by a court in Tangier.

@Hairy_Beardo I read somewhere else it should be the birth certificate and the acro that needs to be apostilled in the UK. Is this the same as legalised and that all documents need to also be legalised Morocco?
