Cheapest cities in Morocco

Bhavna

Hello everyone,

Budget is an important consideration when moving to Morocco. Ideally, expats would settle down in a city in Morocco where the cost of living is low but where they could also enjoy a decent quality of life. Would you be able to give a few tips to someone planning a move to Morocco by answering the questions below?

What are the cheapest cities in Morocco?

Why are they cheap? What singles them out as a city where the cost of living is low?

What is the average budget for one person living in these cities?

Is it easy to find a job as an expat in these cities? What is the overall quality of life like?

Are they expat friendly? Would you recommend these cities to someone looking to settle in Morocco?

Hello everyone,

STATEMENT from MODERATOR (M): 鈥淏udget is an important consideration when moving to Morocco. Would you be able to give a few tips to someone planning a move to Morocco by answering the questions below?鈥

ANSWER: This is NOT true. Expat would move to a city where there is already a thriving expat communities. The cost of living comes second, because unlike Immigrant, who move to stay, Expats move to have a second or third residence. Expats have no plan to apply for a local Passport and being subjected to the local rules as citizens of the land.

M: 鈥漌hat are the cheapest cities in Morocco?鈥

ANSWER: Have no clue. Expats are not immigrant or Assylum seekers. This is not a the right forum to survey the cheapest cost of living in foreign country.

M: 鈥淲hy are they cheap? What singles them out as a city where the cost of living is low?鈥

ANSWER: Have no clue. Probably lacking of infrastructure?

M: 鈥淲hat is the average budget for one person living in these cities?鈥

ANSWER: Expat Budget differs a lot from person to person. There is an App or a Website to calculate this, I believe.

M: 鈥淚s it easy to find a job as an expat in these cities? What is the overall quality of life like?鈥

ANSWER: No job is to be found in Morocco unless one is聽 being sponsored by a local or multinational companies. North Africa and Morocco in particular has a huge unemployment problem. One should NEVER, EVER move to Morocco in the hope to find a job. First: It would not be fair to the local Moroccan Citizens as they should get the job first. Second: One should move to Morocco to enjoy what Morocco offers best; Its the culture, the chance to learn its language, exploring the architecture, its mild wheather, etc; Third: The best reason to move to Morocco is to invest and/or to open a business, providing jobs to the locals in return of their hospitality.

M: 鈥淎re they expat friendly? Would you recommend these cities to someone looking to settle in Morocco?鈥

ANSWER: The Expats are always very friendly; Because they depends on each other鈥檚 experience to manoeuvre in a foreign land. And the social class barriers are often relaxed between expats. Example: A daughter of a simple bakery owner from Sussex can easily get invited to dinner at Lady Rona Delves Broughton鈥檚 Residence within the expat community in Tangier, Rabat or Marrakech. Something that will never happen in their native land, England.
