My wife聽 can handle聽 long聽 Island teas then falls聽 over.聽 But to this day she has never spilt a drop.

The only time I can recall my legs turning to jelly was when I first laid eyes on my wife to be.聽 All these years later, she only looks better, and that is a wonderful commonality amongst many women of Indonesia...they just don't seem to age.聽 On the contrary, they just get more and more beautiful.

OK, I'll be honest here. I got bored and lonely on my last trip out to sea so I created a profile on a Filipino dating site. I sail with many Filipinos & they all tell me about the Philippines & how good I could live there and how beautiful and loyal the Filipinas are to their husbands. I signed up & wrote a few words about myself & put up some recent pictures. Dude, I was inundated with responses. There are literally thousands of Filipinas on that site looking for a foreign husband. I couldn't even keep up with it so I deleted the account. I was BRUTALLY honest in my profile- I'm not looking for a wife to bring to the U.S; I don't want to have a child with you, I won't respond if you're way younger than I because I have a daughter who is only 18, I work as a Merchant Marine so I am away from home most of the year, etc. etc. It didn't even slow them down lol! They don't care! They are very beautiful but I thought about it & I believe in fate & destiny & I prefer to just follow my passions in life knowing that the right one will cross my path when she is supposed to. I have to admit, it was nice on the ego but it's not genuine. It's the same opinion I have on strip clubs. It's all fake. The girls come up and act interested, stroke your ego, say the things you hope to hear from real women you meet elsewhere, but it's all just to get your money. I won't even go to a strip club, I feel it's completely pointless & I work too hard for my money.

My poisons were Jameson Irish Whiskey, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, and if I was really hurting, Wild Turkey! Oh my what a madman I became after a bottle of Wild Turkey lol! I'm half American Indian so the term "Firewater" was in full effect! I have no idea how or why I survived those years of my life, thank God I don't have to live like that these days. Working on almost two years of sobriety, life is good :D

Fun story Jason, but when you move to Bali, don聮t expect the local women here to be falling down at your feet and desperate for marriage with you (or any other bule).  Sure enough there are some 聯gold diggers聰 to be found here as in any culture, but by and large, the women are not proactively anxious to marry foreigners, nor are they interested in permanently moving away from Bali. 

Not having any past serious relationships with any women from other provinces of Indonesia, I can聮t speak for those ladies, but having many friendships with various women from Java, I kind of think that basically the same thing goes for them too.

Anyway, good to read you like Jamesons and not Bushmills!

I was adopted at birth so I don't know specifics. I was only given what they call "non-identifying information" which is everything except a name or a number or anything to identify my parents. Mom was Scandinavian descent, fair skin, blue eyes, blond hair, Dad was American Indian, both were 5'11. Lots of stuff like that. I wish I knew because there are benefits available to me as well as my daughter. I definitely have the traits. If you're familiar with the character the Cleveland Indians use as their mascot, Chief Wahoo, I look just like him in the face. I wear an Indians hat often, have been for decades & people ask if I'm a Cleveland fan or if I live there & I just say nope! I look like Chief Wahoo & then I hold the hat next to my face & smile. usually gets a good laugh!

That's for sure.聽 The very first "Indian Casino" (not a nice way to put it, but that's what they're called) was built on my old boy scout camp, Lake of Isles, and now known as the Foxwoods Resort Casino.聽

As any Marine would put it..."pay back!" Indeed, Native Americans (IMHO)well deserve heaping portions of pay back.聽 聽 聽

"That's the way it should be."

The very first Balinese woman I met who I was "taken by" was introduced to me by her Balinese birth order name, Ketut.聽 On meeting her I said. "So nice to meet you Kentut." :lol:

That's a true story and I was too dumb to understand what her problem with me was!聽 :lol:

I can guarantee you this, it won't be the first time I've looked or been the fool and it surely won't be the last. You don't learn anything in life if you're not making mistakes. Every time I get beat, beaten down, used, made a fool of, whatever, I learn, I gain wisdom that I will carry with me for the rest of my days. I say game on. I'm 43 years old, I don't play with girls in their 20's and I'm certainly not in some huge rush to get married again. I made that mistake once already, and I damn sure learned!

There are Indian casinos all over California now & they're making a killing! I worked as a prison guard here in California & one of my partners was Indian & from one of the tribes that had a casino. He would get about $10k per month on average. I always asked him why he was working at the prison when he has plenty of income? He said he was bored and needed something to do so he found a career. I can understand that. A lot of the Indians who receive the money are train wrecks. There's a HUGE substance abuse problem & now they even have their own gang issues on the reservations. It's a mess. The casinos are nice but I've never done too well & they have really strange rules about what games are allowed and the alcohol consumption. I'm glad they've found a way to make some money on their own.

It was nice to have the attention after being on my ship for months. I don't use prostitutes, buy me drinky girls, and I never go to strip clubs. It gets lonely on a ship. Not all Filipinas are after money. It's just like anywhere else in the world, there are those who are fake and those who are genuine. I made a couple of friends from that site that I correspond with regularly. They've never asked me for anything but my friendship. I've learned a lot about their culture from conversations with them. Most of them just want a better life and to be loved and treated respectfully. I have several shipmates who are married to Filipinas & they have no complaints. Some live in the states & some live in the PI. I would be relocating to the PI myself if the surf was better. You just can't beat Indonesia for the quality and quantity of waves.

Good to see the city has filled the sidewalks with benches.聽 Now the Ojek men have somewhere to sit other than on their bikes.聽 I wish I owned a park bench business I would be rich by now.聽 That and curb stones and very watery black and white paint.聽
If this stuff ain't jobs for the boys then I am not sure what is.

Steve, I聮m happy to leave comments and expertise about the current 聯dating game聰 up to you and other younger men.

I聮m way beyond those days, and I聮m utterly thankful that for one reason or another I stumbled onto my Balinese wife on one Nyepi Eve many years ago. 

I聮m not trying to suggest that it聮s all wine, roses and bliss when committing to an Indonesian spouse聟and sadly I know too many mixed couples where things didn聮t work out. 

But I will say that based on my experience, by and large, Indonesian women have far more character, strength, common sense and sensitivity to us men than any women of other cultures I have encountered. 

How I got to think this way could be from two possible influences聟either my wife is far more skilled as a women with her abilities to 聯train her man聰 than I think she is, or my theory holds water.

Who knows?  And does it really matter so long as one is happy?

It's 2 am and the locals have busied themselves into a little mini riot. Chains, belts, machetes, clubs. Night security look a little rushed off their feet. No police that can be seen.

These are the people in my neighbourhood, the people that you meet as you're walking down the street............

Watched the end from the balcony, you know, chair and a cup of tea as you do. Then went back to bed.
