Fake License Plate's

espace365

Recently I purchased a vehicle

from a local car dealer in KL after exchanged ownership’s vehicle registration at JPJ.

I received a Summon of speeding fine RM300 from Ipoh Perak enclosed two snapshots of a vehicle and license plate as mine.

My vehicle was in KL all time in my garage never drove to Ipoh, Perak. The snapshot of the vehicle and license plate number is similar to mine except the shape and looks of the number plate is different.

I am from Canada recently moved into Malaysia and have never encounter this..

I was told it is quite possible according to few local and

I should report to traffic police department to avoid any future incidents.

i am shocked how people drive vehicle with someone else’s license plate in Malaysia and get away with

In many countries It is a serious crime.

I'm also curious about this.  I've noticed that especially on bikes that it looks like anybody can create their own and just stick it anywhere they want to on the front of the bike.  But the car plates also look custom on some vehicles.

People do all kinds of things to avoid getting caught. Often I've seen number plates with parts of the letter of number missing, or the whole thing covered in dirt. Here in Indonesia since this year all number plates must be black letters/numbers on a white background which makes it a little more difficult to avoid detection.

Yes I would go to the traffic police department to report it. If the number plate is a different shape and hopefully the car can be seen as different, and you have all your documentation for when you purchased the car you should be alright.

i am disappointed with system uninsured motorists and clone license plates fake drivers license are common although laws in place enforcement is lacking. RM50 K is maximum comprehensive insurance coverage is required by law it’s difficult to comprehend

No idea. Actually I let my insurance agent handle everything to do with my car as well as my medical insurance.
